low RPM readings on A2A TR-6 and Spitfires

Post by flash2 »

Engine RPM readings On my Saitek instrument are about 50% of those readings in the cockpit instruments for both planes. I get correct readings on MSF planes and Ants Tiger moth.

All other readings are correct and control settings on the TR-6 are sticking including the configuration settings.

Spitfires: not all control settings are sticking after setting them and no configuration settings are sticking: message is - there is no correct path to MSX

Any help would e appreciated.

Thanks,
John

John,

Those Saitek instruments last I checked are only able to read default simulation variables, but Accu-Sim uses it's own custom variables. I spoke with Saitek many years ago about making their instruments able to read custom variables but I wasn't holding my breath that this would actually happen. So unless something has changed, you can't read custom variables or many Accu-Sim instruments with the Saitek hardware instruments.

I recall so long as you are using Spad Next you where able to custom program the hardware so it could read the correct values.

What is Spad Next?

I have been able to read correct RPM on my Saitek instruments on all planes in the past so this is a recent problem and now can only get correct readings when using MSX planes and Ants tiger moth. Something to do with A2A planes!

Hello John,

by default the instruments are only compatible with default aircraft and default relaxed realism level aircraft. As soon as you use an advanced simulation you will need to re-program or use software to make them compatible. Spad.Next is such software that opens the hardware up to better compatibility.

Interesting in that I do get correct Altitude and Airspeed on my other identical Pro flight Saitek Instrument panels when flying the TR-6. I have not tried yet with Spitfires. I have also switched out the Saitek instrument panels and the only thing not working is engine RPM.

Any clues?
John

You get altitude and airspeed because the are the same in Accu-Sim and P3D. The Accu-Sim engine is different to the P3D combustion engine. I hope this makes sense.

Scott,

Lewis suggests I need Spad next software to increase compatibility with Saitek Pre instruments. Would you know what specific software would do this or is there only one Spad Next Download and how is it integrated with A2A software?

Hello John,

you'l want to google and visit the Spad Next website and community for help making the hardware a little more compatible with advanced simulations on the market.

Lewis,

I e-mailed Spad.Next support and they said I had to modify the instrument to make it work! They did not mention using their software to correct the error but might have assumed I was using it. In your experience did Spad Next actually correct the problem I am having. RPM is reading a factor of 2 or greater low on the Saitek instruments compared to the reading in the cockpits.

Thanks

John

Sorry John, all I can do is point you in the direction of the hardware community, I don't use the gauges because of the limitations of them and the advanced knowledge required for the advanced hardware I don't have time to learn so I tend to stick to the plug and play stick and pedals for my own simming.

Arrgghh!

Any other forums flying A2A TR-6 and Spitfires that I can contact?

I have queries into Saitek and Spadnext!

If I learn anything constructive I will feed it back to you,

Thanks,
John

Lewis,

I have talked to SpadNext and now talking to Tom Tsui who can provide gauges that are compatible with A2A planes using SpadNext and plane specific Lvars.

Could you provide me the Lvars for the T-6 and Spitfires, RPM. Altitude and Airspeed gauges?

Also, could you provide any other A2A planes that use these same Lvars?

This would be a big help in either fixing my Saitek gauge problem or using new gauges compatible with your planes.

Thanks,
John

Hello John,

you'll want to check the cockpit builders threads.

T-6; http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 30&t=53128

We don't currently have one for the Spitfire. I'll see if I can get the values for you though
