T6 crosswinds and grass strips in this World Tour leg.

Post by sloppysmusic »

3 short hops today in the T6-Texan. Heading off from Auckland Intl (NZAA) our first stop is only 8 miles away, Ardmore (NZAR). (Crosswinds will plague us today until our final landing). Off then to Mercer (NZME) our first grass strip landing and takeoff. Took us a while to find it, then after landing we had to cross a tiny bridge to park and then to get back to the runway. Final leg took us to the scenic Thames airfield (NZTH). Landing on a grass strip into a headwind we managed a 3 wheel landing I was finally proud of!
I am of course a LONG way from proficiency with this plane, but thanks to A2A for making the practice and education so enjoyable!
