I've got a question about the oil clean kit. At what point would you remove it from the T6? I'm thinking after the prop has been pulled through but before the engine start (obviously). Is this correct or should I be removing it earlier?
Many thanks
Oil clean kit question
Re: Oil clean kit question
I understand that the oil clean kit does most of its work shortly after it is installed as the oil settles down. Removing the kit before pulling through the prop would be appropriate.

Re: Oil clean kit question
Thanks for replying Oracle. My thought was that leaving the oil kit on would allow any excess oil to drain during the pull. I can see your point of the kit doing most of it's work shortly after installation.

Re: Oil clean kit question
Also remember if you have the clean kit installed, there should be no oil in the lower cylinders, so when you pull the prop through, you are just doing it to verify there is no oil.

Re: Oil clean kit question
The oil clean kit being persistent was never fixed though so installing it before flight to let the cylinders drain is necessary.
I always leave mine on during the prop pull.

Re: Oil clean kit question
Thanks for input guys. I think I'll stick with removing the oil clean kit after the prop pull through.
