GPS wont power on buttons not clickable

I just bought the Commanche 250 and the GPS wont work I cannot get them to power on no matter what I do. (breakers are on avionics and battery is on) on the GNS 430 it wont even let me cluck the power switch or move it at all its like it's not modeled.

for the third party GPS units, do you own them to be able to use them?
