Heading indicator and black screen

Post by acebrando »

I was flying yesterday in the Comanche and everything was going just fine. All of a sudden a black screen covered the entire cockpit, except the dash of the vc panel, and also a black screen on every interior view. I could right click and then left click on "Close Window" on the black screen and I could see the cockpit or other interior view for a fraction of a second but then the black screen would immediately cover the monitor. Every outside view could be viewed just fine. I did notice though that all controls were not responsive and that the plane was stable at altitude but in a slight right bank.
Whether I left Accu-Feel on or off it made no difference.

The heading indicator on a couple of occasions has been opposite of the actual direction of the plane's nose. I follow the checklist (Shift+2) for pre-start, startup, after start, and all other checklists when I fly it. If I am flying a heading of 360 according to both the whisky compass and the GTN750, the Comanche's heading indicator shows a heading of 180.

What am I doing that I should or should not be?

Thanks,
brandon

Where you flying at high altitude by chance? The simulation covers the effects of hypoxia if flying above 12500' for too long.

For the HSI, I'm assuming you are now aligning it to the compass after startup, before takeoff and every 15-30 minutes while in flight?

No worries Brandon, welcome to the forums. Anything else pops up just ask, you'll find a lot of very talented pilots, instructors, simmers and even mechanics on the forums to help you in not just A2A tech support along with us the team but also general flight sim hints, tips and how to get the best out of the hobby for a given situation.

thanks,

Hi Lewis,

Is not the Comanche Accu-"Simmed" already ? Accu-Feel is for non A2A aircraft, right ?

Yes Accu-feel is seperate product to Accu-sim. Accu-feel is like Accu-sim light.

So, how to disconnect Accu-feel with the Comanche (assuming it was not purchased separately)?

It is automatically disconnected. Accusim aircraft override Accufeel.

By default Accu-feel is turned off upon an Accu-sim aircraft load but you can turn it on and off at will as you wish using the Accu-feel control panel in the sim.

Yes, I was over 12,500. I figured out my mistake on that = hypoxia. The reason I took it up to FL190 is because I read on AOPA (I think) that the Comanche has a cruise ceiling of FL220. I did a Phoenix to Flagstaff roundtrip, before the big blackout on another later flight, and I was between FL140 and FL150 on both flights for 30 minutes above 12,500 and I experienced no problems either direction.

For the HSI, I'm assuming you are now aligning it to the compass after startup, before takeoff and every 15-30 minutes while in flight?
Actually for my first several flights I had the Comanche configurator set the plane up for a cold & dark setup and the HSI was always lined up perfectly with the whisky compass, but now I have to align it which is fine because the more realism the better. For in flight corrections on the HSI I use the GTN750 for HSI corrections if need be.
