Comanche crash to desktop on multi monitor setup in p3d v4

Post by tarpoon »

Hi,

I was trying to resolve an issue on a friends setup (bcrawley57).
P3D v4 was reinstalled yesterday. A2A planes uninstalled and removed from config files and registry.
Then the Comanche was installed fresh into a user defined folder, not under Documents.
Folder exclusion added to defender.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open P3D v4 (latest)
2. Select Comanche, load airport EGNE, problem first manifested at PAGY before reinstall
3. Current time
4. Ok
5. Sim loads into 3 screen setup Full Screen Mode
6. Open Menu -> View -> Uncheck Full screen
7. Resize p3d window
-> p3d crashes to desktop.

This does not happen with any other installed plane.
Event viewer did not log a crash entry on the last crash, previous entry;

Was looking through the common scenarios, and the sound drivers has not been touched or updated.

Was not able to attach Comanche log, p3d.config and aircraft.config.

(If Lewis is looking at this, he know where to find us for the files and further questions :)

Thanks

As far as I can recall this is a rare p3d issue and has happened to some users since v1 of P3D and is a platform issue to do with reloading certain aspects as you are moving windows.

I believe users have worked around this by removing the need or finding other ways to achieve what might be wanted.

Right now out here at Oshkosh we are running a three screen undocked view setup with a saved default flight that loads the flight with the undocked views saved with no setup needed.

thanks,
Lewis

The frustrating thing is Lewis, it only happens with any of the A2A planes. All others PMDG, Real Air, Carenado and Alabeo etc, are working fine. Is this the same with other reports you have had? You know how much I love the A2A planes and I don't want to lose them.

Totally flying from memory here whilst I'm away but from memory some had it with some aircraft and not others yes. Have you tried changing your default flight?

I have still got the default flight, have never changed it. To be honest I don't even know how.

Which Anti-virus/malware are you using and is the P3D folder set to be exempt?

So hes not using multiple screens for the triple monitors. What happens when he uses multiple undocked screens?

I don't really understand what you mean Lewis, you are welcome to log on to my system when you are back at work and have a look.

I use Nvidea surround to use them as a single monitor.

I have never used it without before. To be correct you want me to use it on single monitor to try it? I have uninstalled all the A2 A stuff so far. There are two entries I cannot remove from the add remove programmes.Captain of the Ship and Wings of Silver B377 Stratocruiser, there were in V3 however. I will try the Comanche back in?
