Uninstall errors

Post by curt1 »

I'm moving from FSX to P3D and want to delete FSX from my hard drive. Using Win 10 under Programs and Features I want to remove my addons one by one in an orderly fashion, but I'm getting errors on uninstalling A2A planes. The error I get is "An error occurred while trying to uninstall Accu-sim Comanche for FSX. It may have already been uninstalled". The plane has not been uninstalled, but Windows thinks it has. I get the same error on all four of my A2A planes. What would be the best way to uninstall given the circumstances?

Delete the files themselves, you'll have to do this anyway for the sim and add-ons, but leave that till last. Use the uninstall as you have been as much you can then manually delete leftovers etc and then restart the system at least once prior to any installing.

Remember to use Steam to uninstall FSX is using steam edition.

Lewis, thank you for your reply. If I understand what you're saying, use the uninstaller as much as possible, but since A2A will not delete that way to delete the various folders manually. That would include the Comanche folder under Simobjects to start. Do you know what other folders pertaining to the Comanche that I would have to delete as well? Thanks again.

Hello,

yes and no. just delete what you can using uninstallers and then during the manual install you will probably have to manually delete the fsx folder itself anyway.

Are you on Win10?

thanks,

Yes, Windows 10. I even installed the Comanche over the existing hoping that Windows would pick up an uninstaller in the process. It didn't, so I guess I'll need to delete various folders by hand.
Knowing where the installer places everything is what's complicated. If everything is contained in the main FSX folder than it'll get wiped out anyway, but I believe the installer places files elsewhere outside of that folder.

Yes, I found that. I got all my A2A planes uninstalled manually, including gauges. There's actually a help tool that can be downloaded from Microsoft for this type of problem, but I discovered it after the fact. Thanks for you assistance.
