GTN750 causing a fatal error when ending flight

Post by UKJim »

So I used the configurator tool and chose the GTN750 - installed successfully.
I start a flight and all goes well perfectly fine - until I want to end flight using the pause menu. It quits the flight and screen goes blank and I get a fatal error?

This then restarts FSX and I get a 'smartassembly' message?

I have windows 7 and FSX Steam Edition installed.

If I remove the guage using the configurator then all works just fine.

Thanks,
Jim

So when I have finished flying and shutdown I would press ESC and choose end flight. This would normally take me back to the fsx plane selection, airport selection erc. screen, byt instead I get a fatal error and it then say FSX is restarting.

If I remove the gtn 750 unit this issue does not occur.

Thanks :)

Hey Jim,

get the error again and then go to your system event viewer right after to see whats crashing. It sounds like a flight1 issue on the GPS itself but lets see what your event viewer states.

I just installed the GTN 750 into the default 172 and I get the same error - so it looks like an issue with the unit.

I knew it would be but like posting here as get more help than other places. I've posted in the F1 GTN forum and see what goes on there.

If I resolve this I'll update just in case some other poor soul has it too.

Possibly entirely unrelated, but after I first started using the GTN650 in my aircraft, FSX started doing similar things to me. It used to pop an error message saying that a Flight1 update service could not be found, but I ignored it and it went away eventually. Still crashes my sim on exit, though, like clockwork. ;)

Just a thought!

OK so I have fixed the problem...

I run the F1 update tool and it seems to work fine now - I just assumed that I would have the latest version, as I only purchased it the other day; oh well it's sorted so that's good :)

Surely I shouldn't have had to do that straight after a fresh install and with downloading from the site straight after purchasing - so if you have issues with your GTN units, even if you think you have the latest version, go run the update tool.

Good times!

I have Windows 10 and I have the same issue. The program just stops working when I end a flight. When I remove the F1 GTn 750 everything works fine.

It sounds like you might be running an old GTN? You might need to post on flight1 support for the GTN. But before you do make sure you have the latest software version from us via our Accu-sim updater and from Flight1 via there website.
