Hi All,
The landing gear indicator' green light brigtness works the opposite way of the other instruments dimming. Is that normal?

Hi Marc,
If I recall correctly, the gear indicator light in the Comanche is dimmed when the nav/instrument lights are switched on. Is this what you're seeing?
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Gear indicator light
I think the logic there is that you want your green gear light to be bright in daylight conditions, and not so bright during low light conditions. This is achieved by dimming the gear light when the navigation lights are turned on.

Re: Gear indicator light
Ok
Thank you both.
It makes sense but the green light is so dimmed that I thought it was off. We can hardly see it in dark night when the front flood light is on but it's OK when the red light on and here again it makes sense.

Hi there !!!
My main problem is that (even as) a flight sim pilot, instruments panel dimming switch is connected with NAV lights.
If I need to have NAV lights on while in the day, I need to switch them off, in order to confirm where my gear is.
Well, this is a simulation of the real thing, but my REAL CONCERN is,
HOW the REAL plane with that feature got CERTIFIED in real life ???? !!!!!!
I dont't get it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure if you own the Comanche but the gear lights are always on. They can just get a little brighter with Nav lights on.SLKVP wrote:Hi there !!!

Re: Gear indicator light
Not all stuff were in ways of industry standards back in 50ies and 60ies. The idea was that you had them off during days - which maybe still is the way some folks treat the nav lights.SLKVP wrote:Hi there !!!

Note that you also get a tactile+visible feedback from the landing gear position from the gear handle.

Re: Gear indicator light
The assumption is that nav lights are always on after dark and the lights are dimmed so they don’t kill your night vision with a blinding light. Nav lights are not required to be used during daylight.

Re: Gear indicator light
@ Lewis - I own the (A2A) Commanche
@ Esa and Andrew: Thanks for the reply. My reasoning is based what I see in C182, airliners (I'm an airliner sim pilot but A2A made me love GA) and more recent standards/laws (80's, 90s)
