I once came across an airplane like this at CDW while I was in the pattern. It looked very nice, really really nice with that shiny polished black paint. When it was airborne it was very easy to spot. It was a unique paintjob and this looks great with the yellow trim. I can't recall what trim color that airplane had.

I did wonder how hot the interior gets with a black paintjob! :)

Hi George.
Nice repaint but I think that gold would look better than yellow.I also think the reg number needs to be more formal/classical font.

Fantastic VC.Any chance of releasing it as a seperate VC paint addon?

Cheers Chris

I have seen aircraft with registration numbers with that font. Artist's choice I say. :)

hHi Oracle, yes of course it is the artists choice, but I think being a classic paint it should have a classic font for the number.

Only my opinion.

Cheers Chris

Very smart. :D Perhaps a little nose art as it is a 1950's Comanche. Something like the old Western Airlines motifs?

Or maybe something Startrek related, given the plane's rego. Either way, it will be added to my hangar!!!

Lewis, funny you should mention 007, I was thinking the same thing while I was working on this.

Hey Chris, I was trying for gold. I guess I may have missed the mark. Let me work on that. I will release the VC as an extra file as well.

LOL, I choose the number arbitrarily.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

It will be a few days before I get back to this paint as life seems to get in the way of imporatant things. :D

OMG as if I missed the registry!

Now that's beautiful. Personally I'm not sure what the diagnostic difference is between "yellow" and "gold"... maybe doing something with the specular map to give it a bit of "pop" - which is to say I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I'm debating which reflection I like better - the shiny wings or the more dull, sort of matte look of the cowling in the first shot. I'm not sure if that's intentional or simply as a result of camera angle, but I would say trying to make it uniformly one or the other for consistency sake would be a plus.

I suppose I'm leaning towards the idea of a uniform matte black for the basic color/reflective pattern but really make the golden trim shine to give it that contrast. Of course, I know nothing about repainting so I don't know if that's possible or how well it would work. But hey, you asked for thoughts and suggestions, so those are mine. :)

Hey EnDSchultz,

Yup, it was the camera angle. The plane has the same reflectivity overall.

And thanks for your thoughts.

Okay guys, I think I got the coloring of the gold trim.

Also, since for a brief moment while first working on this paint I had thoughts of James Bond, and then Lewis mentioned having the same thoughts, I decided that maybe I should go with that theme so I changed the reg number to, N1007B, and done in a more classic style of font.
