I've resorted to going back and watching the video repeatedly too. I watched it on Youtube a few days ago rather than the forum post here so I was able to see the view count, it was just under 20,000.

Anybody noticed the C-69 in the promo, by the way? ;)

All the Accusim-planes are in my hangar, but they aren't sitting long enough for their engines to cool much before next flight!

Yes! I was secretly hoping that flying cargo would somehow work into COTS. It would be nice to fly cargo with some sort or purpose.

Yeah, a basic option that disable Heidi (or Betty) and adds cargo presets to the load manager, would be great :D

Could have sworn I saw a post somewhere a couple of days ago to the effect that the C-69 would allow a stripped-down version of the COTS passenger-carrying experience, and would also be right for cargo operations. Made it sound a bit like the rough equivalent of the Super Guppy. But now I'm having trouble tracking it down. Anyone else see it? I don't think I imagined it, but given my acute state of Connie anticipation, you never know...

EDIT: Ah, yes, here we are. It was in the comments thread for the Connie promo video on YouTube. A2A posted this: "The simulation will come with the C-69 repaint and cut down passenger stuff for anyone wanting to fly military or cargo style. And yes, we think she looks great in olive drab too."

So there's the C-69 alternative Connie experience to look forward to as well.

Hi there!

I just watched the promo video (again) and I noticed something. It changed a bit. At 0:51 there is a box saying "Soon to be released". Thats new, right?

I guess, we'll all get our special present at christmas :-)

Cheers,

Chris

Hello Scott,

As there was a KLM Connie in the promo, does that mean there will also be a Connie in KLM livery in the release?
That would make the day for me, anyway.

Regards

Hans

Did KLM actually operate the model -049? Air France did so maybe one of those at least.
Cheers!/Andreas

Either way, I'm pretty sure our dear repainters will have a field day after the release

Just look at the variety of T-6 repaints :)

I hope so too. I would love to see a Lufthansa repaint. I know that Lufthansa never operated the 049 but the 1649 and I think it looks sharp in the Lufthansa colors.

KLM was a launch customer for the L-049, with six aircraft in the initial order. You can see one in the A2A video - it's in the black-and-white photo of passengers disembarking. Metal finish and "The Flying Dutchman" legend above the windows. Several of their 049s wound up with Capital Airlines in the US, along with some ex-BOAC examples.

Was just looking through the several pages of color plates of L-049s in Dominique Breffort's Constellation - From Excalibur to Starliner (out of print, expensive but worth it). Probably not a completely exhaustive list but it includes:

TWA (two examples in addition to the one seen in the video - the "Transcontinental Line" paint for the prototype's record-setting flight, and a later white-top example)
El Al
ATF (Aero Transport Flugbetreibgeselshaft, of Austria)
Eastern ("The Great Silver Fleet" finish of 1946)
Capital Airlines
Imperial Airlines
Britair East Africa
BOAC (Balmoral, G-AHEM, an all-metal finish, earlier than the white-top seen in the video)
California Hawaiian Airlines
Pan American (all-metal and white-top)
CCA (Compania Cuban de Aviacion, a Pan Am affiliate in a similar white-top paint)
Panair de Brasil (all-metal and white top)
Falcon Airways (a UK charter company)
American Overseas Airlines
Aeronaves de Mexico
American Flyers Airlines
Delta
Modern Air Transport (a US charter airline mainly handling Defense Department contracts)
KLM (Flying Dutchman, all metal)
Quisqueyana Aerovias (a Dominican charter company)
Royal Air Burundi
Air France
Paradise Airlines (Bahamas)
Pacific Air Transport (A US charter company)
Braniff
LAV (Venezuela)

And that's without including the military and private examples.

A few of these were fitted with the longer radome nose, so some artistic license is needed. Nevertheless, that's quite a haul of 049s, without anyone's even having to pull in the 649/749 liveries that I'm sure we'll be seeing too.

Plenty of material for the repainters - and for the rest of us.
