N59250 Polished Repaint

Post by EightyFiftyFive »

This is a similar repaint of N64400. The cowling is a bit different on our model then on the 400 so the striping on the nose appears a bit different in relation to the intakes on the front because they are totally different then this one and a lot smaller.

Also there is a huge amount of work to do when painting this area of the Comanche... lots of individual sections of the nose area need to be painted and is very hard to get the lines to lay down correctly so I gave it a good shot and this is what I came up with.

This one does not use the emblems either by default and please be sure to leave all files in the texture.N59250 folder.
The repaint text is included in the zip/rar once you install it.

All textures are 32bit accept interior's.

I've included a slightly modded interior to go along with this paint scheme.

I hope you enjoy the paint.

Well, it's worth noting that whatever technique was used to produce the polish effect doesn't appear to come out quite right in Prepar3d (unsurprisingly, I guess). It seems to be suffering from the same color-swap bug as noted on the specular map on this repaint, causing the reflection to produce a greenish hue from most perspectives. In principle, the workaround for it should be simple and is explained on the next page of that thread, but unfortunately I have the image editing skills of a goldfish so I don't know how to pull it off myself.

Just thought I'd put it out there so it's known. I brought it up on the LM forums but don't know if it's been noticed. Hopefully it'll be resolved in their next patch.

Edit: it's the fresnel3.dds. I shifted it to a green hue and desaturated it because it was quite overstated in P3D's lighting but now it looks great to my untrained eye.

Beautiful paint Alan :D I am on a Comanche cross country, I am going to land just so I can swap paints for this beauty.

Fantastic paint! Just taking her for a spin. It's raining though so I'll have to clean and dry her when I'm done :D
