AVIONICS

Post by some1 - A2A »

Hey guys, as usual, here is a list of avionics equipment we've modelled for the plane, with some features highlights. These are actual screenshots from Virtual Cockpit (FSX DX10).

Narco Radio Stack
- CP 136 audio selector panel
- NCS812 COM/NAV/DME unit, with DME HOLD function and TO/FROM display
- MK 12E COM/NAV unit with TO/FROM display
- AT 150 transponder
Image

S-TEC System 30 autopilot
- Rate based two axis autopilot
- Stabilizer Mode (maintains turn rate)
- Heading Hold Mode
- Low Track Mode
- High Track Mode
- Alt Hold
This autopilot is reliable and simple to operate. But it is also very different from the autopilots usually found in FSX airplanes. It can track the VOR/LOC/GPS, but it will not intercept it automatically. It can hold the altitude, but it will not trim the aircraft. You'd better read the manual or prepare for the unforeseen consequences.

3rd party GPS integration

If you own one of the Reality XP 430/530, Mindstar 430/530 or Flight1 GTN 650/750 gauges, you can install them in the VC using the aircraft configurator. Here is an example screenshot with Flight1 GTN 750 touchscreen. Other options can be seen in Scott's video HERE.

Beautiful work Michael, as always. :) I'd just like to add a link too if I may. It's for the HSI manual, though it should all be pretty self-explanatory I guess.

Century NSD-360A HSI:

I assume it's the unslaved version of the HSI we'll be getting (without the slaving meter visible at the top right of the gauge), so manual correction of the compass card will perhaps be necessary to correct for gyro precession...

Cheers,

Your assumption is correct. Air-driven however also electrically connected and thus a somewhat strange combination and - yes - the compass card can be manually adjusted for gyro drift... What else would you expect from A2A  :D ?

:D

Thanks Scott, I love threads like this.

I've got an F1 GTN750 but I really like the look of the stack in the first picture.
Going to try and learn to do without GPS.

I love these, "Look at your new toys" threads :D

Just looked back at the video, you had similar white stickers stuck on the radios in 29P
I love it.

edit: Apologies Michael, I see that you started this thread rather than Scott.
Thanks Michael, thanks Scott, thanks everyone else at A2A.

In connection with the GTN750,
Is it possible to allot this this GPS only to some repaints of a type of plane or obligatorily to all the repaints of the plane concerned each time? There is not an easy way for that?
Thank you

The way A2A usually do it is to have it changeable with a few mouse clicks whilst sitting in the plane.

Add-on GPS is selected in a program external to FSX/P3D.
But once it is selected, you can switch between GPS and no-GPS very easily with no more difficulty than it would take to re-fuel the plane.

Just a quick question regarding the NAV/GPS switch... Why does the GPS label get replaced with INOP for some configurations? I've noticed it it OK for the default GNS 400, but INOP for the 3rd party GPS units.

3rd party GPS units don't use this switch, they have built-in button for that.

Sounds good Oskar, and a nice contrast to the fancy slaved unit we're spoiled with in the C182T. :)

Thanks, I completely forgot about that... It's a bit different that the NAV source button/annunciator in the Cessnas.
