tip tanks aerodynamicly clean up wings

Post by Zacke »

Hey guys,

even if one doesn't need the additional fuel of the tip tanks is it better to leave them installed because they clean up the wings aerodynamically? What about additional weight vs. aerdynamic advantage?

Thanks in advance,
Zacke

This came up a few months ago, and I found a study (can't remember where) that said basically: it depends, and anyway the difference is minor.

P.S. The original discussion was here: viewtopic.php?f=138&t=66647
