A2A Cessna 182
A2A Cessna 182
Prepar3Dv4.2 starts with a black screen when I select the A2A C182 and then just stops working. It was working, so I tried to uninstall it and reinstall but get a black screen and Prepar3dv4.2 shuts down.
Re: A2A Cessna 182
I tried another plane and it's fine and P3D was fine, but then as soon as I selected the A2A 182 the A2A182 showed up as a replacement and Prepar3D immediately stopped working.

Re: A2A Cessna 182
Thanks Lewis.... I was trying to get MCE (Multi Crew Experience) and radar contact to work with P3Dv4.2. Annnnnnd for some unknown reason, it seemed to affect the A2A C182. Thought that was really strange. What I ended up doing was to reinstall the A2A182 and am back to normal. So I'm up and running gain, Thanks for your assist. It's really appreciated. Walt (Have a great day)

Re: A2A Cessna 182
Hi Up and running, "But" MCE co-pilot does not control the functions in the A2A aircraft. I tried another aircraft and MCE does control the functions. I can only assume that MCE does not work on A2A aircraft, but does on the others. Hopefully down the road MCE will work with A2A. Again thanks for keeping in touch. "Happy Flying" Walt
Re: A2A Cessna 182
Not familiar with MCE, but I'm trying to think of what tasks the other crew member will be handling?
In the real world, the other person might keep a traffic scan, set radios or help monitor altitudes, speeds, perhaps read off checklists, etc. There aren't too many systems to manage, and the cockpit layouts don't generally lend themselves to having many controls operated from the right seat.

Re: A2A Cessna 182
I love MCE ( Multicrew Experience) Because I can use my mic with voice commands. "Set Flaps 10", "Gear Up", "You have the Radios" He tunes the radios, "You have ATC" He handles ATC, such as push back, he contacts ground, clearance, departure etc. He sets Squawk code etc. And I also have "Radar Contact" where you are controlled from start and finish and he critiques your flight sat the end. So with MCE working along with Radar contact it frees you up some time to concentrate on the flight. It's a challenge as now you have to be more realistic flying. It's not a game but flight experience. MCE does a lot more commands also, I just mentioned a few.
Re: A2A Cessna 182
Aside from the performance measurement functions, one would be doing all those tasks by themselves in these light aircraft while still having to fly the aircraft. It's all part of the package and part of the challenge. One could choose to fly with and operate as part of a properly briefed crew, but it would be strange to me in a light aircraft like the 182. It is totally realistic to have to do all this by yourself.
Nothing wrong with this approach however, whatever suits you best! In fact the part about saying actions aloud, whether operating with a crew, an instructor or by yourself is good practice. One, it lets others know what is going on in your mind, and two I think vocalizing the tasks is another healthy check in a process that includes the use of flows and checklists.

Oh Yes, I agree........ It's just another group of programs I enjoy. I also appreciate it when I am Flying a 737, 747,777 etc. The small planes I agree, It's not needed, although ATC can really keep your mind going even in a 172, when they divert you from your original flight plan. Do appreciate your information as always. Walt "Leaving 4000 for five"
