Hi, so I'm flying along in my 182, I have the Flight1 GTN750 installed. I have a DIRECT TO set in the GPS. But I'm flying to a VOR with both the GTN in CDI mode and VOR 2 tuned to the same freq.
VOR 1 is pointing to the correct VOR.
VOR 2 is pointing to the correct VOR.
The 750 is giving me distance to the VOR.
But on the KN 62A, despite the same freq tuned I'm not getting any DME.
Am I doing something incorrectly?
Thanks.
KN 62A seems to not be working

Is the VOR a VOR/DME?B-17 Flier wrote:Hi, so I'm flying along in my 182, I have the Flight1 GTN750 installed. I have a DIRECT TO set in the GPS. But I'm flying to a VOR with both the GTN in CDI mode and VOR 2 tuned to the same freq.

There are exceptions in the sim. Not every VOR has a DME locating beacon.

Not sure, it was the Australian Essenden VOR. 114.9 I think.joespeed52 wrote:Is the VOR a VOR/DME?B-17 Flier wrote:Hi, so I'm flying along in my 182, I have the Flight1 GTN750 installed. I'll have to try others.

Essendon is an NDB, Are you sure? Freq. 356?B-17 Flier wrote: Not sure, it was the Australian Essenden VOR. 114.9 I think.

I'm positive. And I know the difference between an NDB and a VOR to be sure.

The Melbourne VOR is a DME also, but the Freq. is 114.1... I'm looking at SkyVector as we speak.

Re: KN 62A seems to not be working
Ok, so I was mistaken, I knew it was 114.something. I had the correct VOR as the VOR needles moved. They wouldn't move if it wasn't correctly tuned to the freq.joespeed52 wrote:The Melbourne VOR is a DME also, but the Freq. is 114.1... I'm looking at SkyVector as we speak.
Question is it a DME VOR?
As I indicated above, I will try again later at a different location.
Are you looking to start a flame war or something? Semantics, the VOR needles moved, they would not move if it wasn't tuned, I knew it was 114 but got the number after the decimal wrong. No big deal.

It has DME, yes. If you tune the Freq, and have the DME on, it should report distance. Not trying to be aggressive, just wanted to clarify and make sure we were on the same page.B-17 Flier wrote:Ok, so I was mistaken, I knew it was 114.something. As I type this on my Mac while I'm flying to the station, I have ML tuned in the unit to 114.1.joespeed52 wrote:It has DME, yes. If you tune the Freq, and have the DME on, it should report distance. VOR needle is deflected.
Time to Groundspeed/Tie to station all dashes.
Switch now in the middle, I see 114.1 and all dashes to the left.
Switch positioned all the way to the left I'm picking up distance.
