A2A C182 autopilot/trim problem

Post by THibben »

I have a curious problem which I can't solve. When flying with all radios and autopilot powered on, every time I use the elevator trim button the autopilot automatically goes to autopilot control. I have searched everywhere to see how they are connected but with no luck. I was flying the A2A C182 but I believe this happens with most planes. I am using a PFC yoke and control console.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Tom,

It sounds a lot like you've got a control conflict somewhere, and that the button you've got assigned to elevator trim is also sending a command to engage the autopilot (e.g. the default "z" command, or via the A2A input configurator or FSUIPC).

Under normal conditions, manual trim inputs should actually cause the autopilot to disengage if it's already connected.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello,

Yes it does sound like you have a control issue somewhere in the sim, with a simple double mapping/mis-mapping of a control.

thanks,
Lewis

I couldn't agree with you more on the double mapping. The problem is, how do I find it. I have searched every where I can think of but to no good.

Hello,

beSt bet is to first confirm it is with all aircraft, test a few default aircraft and see what happens.

Hi Lewis,

It appears to be only with the C172 & 182. I flew several other planes with no problem.

Tom,

In that case, did you check the relevant A2A input configurators for a conflicting entry under the "AP ON" function?

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,

Could not find anything there either.

Are you using FSUIPC for any control assignments?

Do you have anything mapped in the aircraft config, also as bobsk8 mentions are you using FSUIPC or other control software?
