Minor Issues With C182 Skylane In P3DV4

Post by sab12 »

I am having the following minor issues with the C182 Skylane in P3DV4. Never owned P3D before or C182 in FSX:SE so I have no basis for comparison.
(1) The red tail beacon doesn't seem to display at all.
(2) The Nav lights on the wingtips are very faint.
(3) The DME instrument doesn't show any distance when I dial in the VOR frequency no matter what the distance from it. VOR is ENE in southern Maine.

Has anyone else encountered these issues?

Thanks,

Stephen Bickford

Hello Stephen,

I believe this is a known issue affecting 182 users who don't have the 172 installed. Presumably A2A will issue a fix before too much longer.

They seem a bit dim on mine too so what you're describing might be normal.

Are you using the DME in 'FREQ' rather than 'RMT' mode? If so, this mode can be a little capricious: see here for more info.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello Nick,

Thanks for your response.

Hopefully, given the current focus on P3DV4 and what folks like me have to pay to switch from FSX:SE, A2A will take note of this post and fix the C182 lighting and get the DME instrument performing as it is supposed to.

Steve,

I'm sure the missing beacon light will be fixed in due course.

I understand an update to the DME behaviour is unlikely though. A2A used custom programming to simulate a standalone DME with 'FREQ' mode which is apparently why some limitations and small discrepancies exist depending on the navaid in question. However, the 'RMT' mode should work fine in all cases. It's certainly not an issue that's unique to P3D in any case.

Cheers,
Nick
