My aircraft is moving with brakes set?

Post by crashxpert »

I just noticed the other day after upgrading to P3d V4 that my plane was moving at idle with the brakes set. Even with tie downs and chocks it still creeps forward. It does it on my Comanche and Skylane. In the Comanche I first noticed it when it wouldnt stay on jacks when lifting the aircraft and of course the engine wasnt even running. Ive only flown A2A planes since the upgrade and havent checked if stock planes do it though. Anyone comes across this yet? Did a quick google search and couldnt find anything so wasnt sure if its a bug with P3D messing with A2A stuff? Any help would be awesome.

Also forgot to add it only creeps an inch or two ever 30 seconds-ish.

It's a feature of the engine. All the aircraft do it. Note that with A2A aircraft brake wear is modeled, so you can experience reduced brake effectiveness that will also magnify this creeping.

This is a known fault apparently.

Yes as Oracle mentions this is a known issue with the FSX/P3D engine and happens to lessor or more degrees with all aircraft including defaults.

thanks,

Thanks Oracle and Lewis. Guess I never noticed it under FSX before. The engine has been around all this time and still has the same bugs. Long as my plane and or sky doesn't turn invisible and sound keeps working I'll be happy

One thing which you can do in P3D is use the "position freeze user" command (ctrl shift P) as a sort of "super parking brake" which will guarantee no creep. Might be useful if you plan on parking with the engine running for an extended period.

In fact, it would be quite useful if this command could be aliased to the wheel chock animation (at the moment placing the wheel chocks basically just engages the parking brake) but this would probably present other technical challenges.

Cheers,
Nick
