Fixed shadows in cockpit

Should I be seeing these shadows as a fixed part of the display?

Yes if I understand correctly. The reflections which are rendered on the gauge glass are static.

Thanks Nick - so just to check. The two vertical stripes of lighter colour on the gauge pointed to by the red arrow in the screenshot will all ways appear in those positions regardless of where the sun is?

Yes, the reflections are "baked in" to the cockpit textures so to speak.
