Specific which sound device is used
In the VC, the engine sound is sent to the Windows default sound playback device. Is there anyway to change that to a different sound device in the configuration files?

Hello and welcome to the forums,
the Accu-sim sounds will play through the default windows sound device, you can change what this is in windows.
thanks,
Lewis

Re: Specific which sound device is used
Is there any way to change it outside of changing the windows default device? I use my PC for a few different purposes and changing the default sound device inside windows is not possible for me.

Prepar3d V3.
The engine noise in the VC is sent directly to windows. The settings in Prepar3d are not used.

Re: Specific which sound device is used
I change my default sound device before every simming session as I use headsets when simming and speakers when not.
I just tested and it takes 5 clicks of the mouse to perform the task which is a fairly small trade to swap back and forth between two sound devices.
Is something in your particular setup preventing you from:
1) Right click on the speaker icon in your task tray
2) Right click on Playback Devices
3) Right click on the sound device to make the default
4) Left click on Set as Default Device
5) Left click on OK to close the window

You know P3D allows you to select the sound devices internally..? You do NOT need to change settings in Windows.jessica wrote:Prepar3d V3.

Re: Specific which sound device is used
I think that the Accusim engine completely bypasses the P3D and FSX controls as it runs outside the process. Certain sounds including the engine sound come from Accusim instead of the flight simulator process.
It would be good to know for others to reference if it can be done from within P3D.

The problem is that my PC is my home theater system as well. Changing the default audio, as you list, is easy, but then I lose all my settings in my home theater software, which is a lot of work to re-setup. I would be nice if Accu-Sim had a config file, or as part of the aircraft setup tool, to select an audio device, instead of the default. I would think it would be fairly easy to add it to Accu-Sim. Maybe that feature can be added to an upcoming release?

I see, that helps to know.

Re: Specific which sound device is used
Hello,
no plans to add that to the Accu-sim at this time, but I'll add it to the list. In the meantime does the other software you mention also not have this feature then? Normally a sound profile can be saved so switching windows devices can be done as easily as any normal system.
thanks,
Lewis
