C-182 and C-172 control input

Post by olddog60 »

I had to reinstall FSX SE and now the joystick input doesn't work in the A2A C-182 and C-172. It does work in all other aircraft including the A2A B377. I don't see a selection to enable the control axis in the Input Configurator for these aircraft and I didn't have this problem before. I can't figure out where I'm going wrong here. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Hello,

upon reinstalling did you also manually delete any left over files and uninstall your addons?

thanks,
Lewis

Hi and welcome to the forum group,

Have you tried to open Controller (joystick) calibration, while in the FSX with the selected C182 or C172.? My Logitech Force 3D sometimes plays tricky, when power is lost to the PC. I manage to fix this with an inflight re-calibration (while the plane is on the ground)

Hi Lewis,
I used a procedure that I found on the Dovetail Games site which had you remove all of the FSX folders. So as far as I know I removed everything. I probably missed something and that won't be a surprise.

Hi will,
Thank you for the welcome. :D I did try calibrating the controls with these aircraft selected. I also tried going from a working aircraft such as the A2A B377 to the C-172 and C-182 while in the sim and they still didn't work. There is something that I didn't mention and that is that when I tried the rudder peddles in the B377 they were jumpy when moved (CH Rudder Peddles - ThrustMaster Joystick). The rudder peddles in other aircraft didn't do that.
This all started with a SimConnect problem. I don't know if this is related. After the reinstall I still have that problem.

Hello,

are your controls active in FSX? Have you turned them off in FSUIPC?

The controls are active in FSX and I had removed FSUIPC in case it was the problem. With the previous removal and reinstall of FSX, I didn't remove it using the Control Panel add/remove programs. Maybe I need to nuke everything that I can and start over again. As I said, I still have the SimConnect problem.
Thanks Lewis,
Bill

PS
I use to fly a C-172 and the A2A C-172 felt real familiar. :D Great work! :D

In steam you can verify game files. see here;

Might not work but might help and avoid and total reinstall again.

Thanks Lewis,
I have done that a few times now. The first time it reported one bad file. The subsequent times all supposedly checked good. One version of SimConnect is reinstalled each time and seven steps of loading DLC files (Downloadable Content I assume.) is shown. I'm not sure what that implies though.

I had FSX SE installed and I do have FSX Gold on dvd so I uninstalled everything using Windows program uninstall and I deleted any files or folders that were left. I will install FSX and check back with the results. Thank you for the assistance.
