...It suddenly failed to make itself known. Anyone else?

Have you wibbled your stall warning vane recently Ron? It's my favourite part of the pre-flight... Maybe you've got caterpillars nesting in it or something!

If you insist in sticking your old paint brushes in it Ron I keep telling you it will cause 'issues!'

Re: Stall warning horn..
I'm with Lewis on this ...seriously though, what are the flight conditions when you suspect a stall warning failure? Eg, angle of attack, indicated airspeed?
Re: Stall warning horn..
I'm assuming we are referring to the C182 but the system is identical to the C172 as you know but the stall speed may vary. Btw, does the comment ' did another flight and have a guess...' Mean the problem is resolved?

Re: Stall warning horn..
Not quite . the C182 uses a switch at the leading edge (equal to the Cherokee), which will be activated due to changed airflow over the leading edge as soon as a certain AoA is exceeded, whereas the C172 uses a reed-type "clarinet" which is activated by the same reason, however directly driven through the existing vacuum.goughie wrote:...I'm assuming we are referring to the C182 but the system is identical to the C172 as you know but the stall speed may vary...

What do you reckon? It was probably a non issue in the first place.goughie wrote:. Btw, does the comment ' did another flight and have a guess...' Mean the problem is resolved?

Re: Stall warning horn..
If I remember correctly, a 15kts headwind, from 50kts down to 40kts in the flare. Which resulted in a nice touch down. I was waiting for the beep/chirp but just got the chirp. Maybe it was the headwind?goughie wrote:I'm with Lewis on this ...seriously though, what are the flight conditions when you suspect a stall warning failure? Eg, angle of attack, indicated airspeed?

I get the same variation, sometimes a little beep on touchdown, sometimes not. Its nice to hear the stall horn as you touch down. I think the AoA has something to do with it, who knows, at least it means your landings are good!
