c182 skylane bug

Post by RageShade1 »

ive noticed on my aircraft that cylinder 5 and 6 will not wear, I selected multiple used aircraft and even ran the engine with no oil. Cylinder 5 and 6 do not change at all :cry: other than that its great..and yes I tried reinstalling

Confirmed here. Just emptied out the oil and seized up the engine. Crankshaft destroyed, 1-4 badly damaged. 5 and 6 still sitting pretty at 75 apiece.

Great catch! Do I want to know how you found this out? :P

OK, I found the problem, the wear was not being applied to those rear cylinders. Fixed.

Good evening.

Looking at the plane's cfg, I found some general stuff that might* ( I dont know if it was on purpose) that might be responsable for this. I also experienced the plane to be underpowered. Here's the cfg section:

power_scalar = 1.0
cylinder_displacement= 80.0
compression_ratio= 8.5
number_of_cylinders=4
max_rated_rpm= 2700
max_rated_hp= 300
fuel_metering_type= 0
cooling_type= 0
normalized_starter_torque= 0.3
turbocharged= 1
max_design_mp= 55
min_design_mp= 5
critical_altitude= 30000

1. If its the Lycoming IO-540-AB1A5, isnt it supposed to be 230hp?
2. Also the cylinder displacement of this engine per cylinder should be 541.5 / 6 = 90.25 per cylinder.
3. Critical altitude I dont think that engine can make that altitude.

Anyways, great product. Im making the changes here and will see if it reflects correct.
Cheers!

LocoJoe,

Thanks for the feedback, but keep in mind, Accu-Sim is running the show and all of that stuff is meaningless.

As Scott pointed out already, those numbers are meaningless for an accusimmed A/C. Your comment about the A/C being underpowered however is something different. How exactly can you determine (and proof) that the A/C is underpowered?

LocoJoe's post and Scott's reply offer a wonderful opportunity for A2A to expound a bit on just how Accu-Sim overrides these values and why those numbers in the plane's cfg file are there in the first place. It would be a great teaching moment for all of us who are thrilled with the new C182T but might not fully appreciate the "interior workings" of Accu-Sim.

My hat is off to the A2A team for providing us with such a wonderful aircraft. I'd appreciate knowing even more about Accu-Sim!

BTW and this is off-topic to be sure, but I have to share. I had possibly the best FSX experience of my life late yesterday afternoon. It was 1730 EST, I was 1,100 ft in the pattern over KORL in the new C182T in a local thunderstorm with lightning lighting up the area and my cockpit. The light was fading rapidly and the airport had just turned on the lighting. When I turned on final I could see a sliver of blue sky and sunset down low on the horizon looking west toward the Tampa area. Simply beautiful! Thanks, A2A! I'm one very satisfied customer!

No, you can't fix it yourself... It'll be part of the next updater, whenever that gets released.

Power seems just perfect to me, not underpowered at all , just right, which is something impressive , many planes in simulators seem overpowered, not this one :) dont change it.

No intention to do so after having done all the extensive peformance testing... 8) :wink:
