Hello,
i was wondering if there's a chance to get the external lights to illuminate the ground at night/ dawn?
How does this work anyways?

Re: Ground illumination
I'm currently using FSX SP2 and the DX10fixer. But I'd thankful for both methods - FSX and p3d v4
Re: Ground illumination
hi! I found a solution, but I'm still working out the details. Could you give me a hint how to match the ground reflection with the strobe pattern?
Here are some screenshots of the progress:

- just NavLights https://ibb.co/bwj8Xy

Re: Ground illumination
If you want the landing lights to illuminate the ground go into
start my programs A2A cessna172 and in the aircraft configurator set the lights to custom. Please read the manual.
Cheers Chris

Re: Ground illumination
Thank you for your response. But my question was regarding the other exterior lights. The landing lights are working very well and the customs look marvelous.

Re: Ground illumination
Hutzlio,
Exterior lights other than the landing lights illuminating the ground aren't natively supported in FSX. Is the "solution" you found a new feature of the DX10 scenery fixer or something?
Currently there's native support for proper "dynamic lighting" only in Prepar3D v4.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Ground illumination
No, it's not a new feature. I modified some xml's together with existing textures and effects to fit them into the c182 model to create the "illusion"of a ground illumination. Regarding the thing with p3d v4: in several pmdg aircraft (FSX versions) all the lights are visible on the ground as well, so I was trying to reach the same for my A2A aircraft to bring them to perfection (just my point of view). I like flying during sunsets in my hometown and not having the lights illuminating the ground made feel like there's something missing. If there'd be a purchasable solution, I'd have already bought it.
Unfortunately switching to p3d is to heavy for me on the financial side

PS: here's a pic of the current status: https://ibb.co/jMMpQJ
I also placed a effect for the beacon but didn't take a pic by now
