A Typical Flight - It's The Real Thing

Post by AngryHatter »

Last night I decided to take the C182 to Brackett from Santa Monica. It's a 25 minute trip. You have to enter the pattern and turn around to land in Brackett.

I start the plane and immediately I am struck - "WTF? Where is my gps?"
I had used the Aircraft Configurator and installed one the night before so I assumed it would be there.
I went on the 'net and found that I had to enable it via shift 3. Okay. Reload and let's get going!

Aircraft starts and I am idling when I noticed the compass on the windscreen was blank.
"Oh man."

However, this time I suspected it was something in the aircraft and not a glitch with the program/aircraft.

After looking around I found I had turned on interior lighting but not the instrument backlighting.
Et voila the compass, she is lit.

I love this.

I will tell you that I have owned flight sims since the 1980s - Sublogic anyone? And more times than not I would fool around, take off and then soon after get bored. There were few flights that I wanted to sit through from beginning to end. I ended up shifting focus toward air war sims instead.
A while back I decided to give noncombat flight another try. I drove a huge tube - meh.

Then I tried a couple 3rd party addons.
Okay scenery improved, FBOs look better. But one issue remained.

Even the best known 3rd party aircraft, while they are intensely pretty, for the most part are still glued to rails. Especially when landing.
That led me to Accufeel.
Hmmm, if this little addon can fundamentally change the game literally, then what would an A2A aircraft do for me?

[Jawdrop]

A2A GA aircraft has more than renewed my interest in flight simming. And changed that old flight paradigm completely.
No longer is the scenery the only draw to the game.

All the little subtleties that are embodied in A2A aricraft make this a load of fun. I actually have to fly the plane and then I can peek out the window and marvel for a minute.

Bravo.
