I've been wondering if any of the A2A GA aircraft can make it past the ocean; the Comanche fell short with an estimated 1550nm worth of fuel with very aggressive leaning and very low power settings. Currently, I am on a trip at 12'000 feet going a smooth 130 kts. At 6.4 gph, I have ~1650nm worth of fuel. This is going to be a long flight. I'll have about 50nm worth of remaining fuel if I do make it!

That is one bold trip!
I've seen small GA planes navigating through the Atlantic, but they use shorter hops between Greenland and Iceland. I don't see a GPS on board the Skylane, how do you plan to navigate?
You can use additional baggage or a person weight to convert them in fuel later on in the trip, thus simulating auxiliary fuel tanks.

I am using a GPSMAP 295 to get a route to follow. It's definitely stretching out the range on the C182! If winds aren't favourable enough, I might not actually have enough fuel. I want to see if it can be done without auxiliary tanks, but thanks for that tip, I plan on using it in future flights. ETE 8h30m.
