Hello,
Problem came out of nowhere whilst flying on vatsim, I was given vectors so I hit heading hold and bugged Direction I wanted to go.
It would hold the course for a moment and then start to isolate more and more left and right, any idea what could be causing this?

Re: Heading hold on c182 not holding
Hello Matthew,
It's been noted that the autopilot can have difficulty if the frame rate in the host sim drops very low (say to 10 FPS). Do you recall if you were experiencing particularly low FPS at the time due to heavy cloud or scenery for example?
Thanks,
Nick

Hi nick I am unable to recall if the FPS was any lower then normal but yes it was very overcast. I 600ft was the lowest cloud layer.
I'll keep an eye out next time, I have lowered settings in the SIM to see what happens and bear your point in mind thank you.

I assume you had a bit of turbulence and variable winds in such conditions, it could sure would get bumpy riding in overcast conditions.

Lewis

Re: Heading hold on c182 not holding
Hi Lewis, winds weren't particularly high. I mean the plane was banking increasingly more and more to get back on track.
However, I have not experienced a problem since.

Re: Heading hold on c182 not holding
It could have been a frame issue or the weather and a combination of both also.
thanks,
Lewis
