Engine heater and using cold & dark option

Post by gulredrel »

Hello,

I've a question concerning the usage of the engine heater.

Last flight I saved the flight with the engine heater plugged in.
Today I loaded this flight, changed time and weather to todays values and clicked the cold & dark option in shift + 3 panel.

After entering the cockpit and switching on the master swich, engine oil temperature was shown in tooltip as (--) so well below 75°F.

Did I reset the effect of engine heater with cold & dark option or which oil temperature I can expect with engine heater?

Thanks
Jens

I believe you did reset with the cold and dark. I use the heater and upon start up even changing latitudes dramatically, the temps represent the heater being plugged in.

And just to cover all bases, note that simply equipping the engine heater in the maintenance hangar does not plug it in. You need to plug it in via the shift+3 menu.

I know, I installed it in the maintenance hangar and plugged it in, so the cable was visible in outside view.

Will try setting weather and loading the aircraft without switching cold & dark or maybe using auto C&D could help.
