Oh I love that. How can one get a hangar like that to park in? However, I would like to see one with more shadowing, detail, etc.?

Is there any open hangers like that in the FSX world? I've only seen 1 so far but it was the size of an indoor football pitch!

UK2000 VFR Airfields list "open hangars (at some airfields)" among their features.

Out of Volume 1: RAF Fairford, Lee on Solent and Portland appear to have open hangars (although whether they'd be empty is another question, maybe you can turn off static aircraft if I remember correctly).

Several of the Orbx fields have open hangars you can back into. Off the top of my head, Fall City, Orcas Island, Stewart and Siletz Bay State all have them, but I know there are others.

Portland it turns out is a Navy Base at the Southern end of England.

I parked my C182 in a nice big hangar there.

(Although it took a little while to reverse it in. Got there in the end though.)

edit: Sorry Awash2002, nice picture and great idea. Nice thread.
By the way, do those lights in the ceiling work? The lights didn't work where I parked.

Another place to park is Aerosoft's Andras Field, a fictional airport named after the developer. It was intended to be an online community, plots were put up for sale and the buyer got to choose the style of home they wanted. The online aspect of it is all but dead, but just about every plot sold, so there are plenty of homes with garages large enough for a 182.

There is always the Eaglesoft hangar available here http://www.eaglesoftdg.com/downloads.htm I customized it with my own signs and placed it at a many base airports.
Take care, Brett

Pretty cool hangar you've got there!

My favourite open hangar is at Edwards AFB from Acceleration pack. I've flew through it with Accu-Sim P-40. Upside down.

I noticed that there's a series of videos on YouTube by Austin Sass on drawing an aircraft hangar in Google Sketchup. He looks a little new to the process (no offence Austin) but the results that he gets look really good I think.

Now if I can just add lighting.
