GNS 400 in C182

This is a dumb question and I apologize before I ask. When using direct function on the GNS 400, I have been unable to figure out how to make an entry of letters/numbers or anything for that matter. What is the key or click point to enter the destination airport ID?

Outer knob moves changes the cursor position, inner knob changes the character. FSX cheat is to move the inner knob and then start typing.

The FSX cheat of being able to type the code into the default units helps greatly!
