RPM Loss

Post by Snupple »

Hi, I have a interesting issue:

When revving to full RPM (on ground on in air) the RPMs gradually reduce down to idle levels without any control inputs (ie throttle remains at 100%) if you when shut down and restart, its not possible to get the RPMs over idle speed.

So far I have tried this:

Deleted .dat file
Checked Maintenance Hanger
Reinstalled from scratch

.. it was working fine for about 9hrs total flying time

Help :(

Hi Snupple - welcome to the A2A forums.

What was the weather like when you experienced the loss of RPM?

If it was raining or misty, carburettor icing is a likely culprit. Here's a good article which explains the basics of this phenomenon. You can activate carb heat with the 'h' key.

If not, please can you give us a little bit more info about which host sim and hardware you're using.

Thanks,
Nick

It was around 6c and rainy, and on another day 12c but fine... It does sound like carb icing through - will try that later tonight

Thanks for your speedy reply

Yes, sounds like a spot of carb heat should do the trick. 12°C puts you right in the danger area (PDF) depending on dew point, and rainy weather is a definite causal factor too.

Thanks,
Nick
