A2A Piper Cerokee 180 FSX slow trim

Post by [email protected] »

Need some help improving the up/down trim speed in the A2A Cherokee 180. Anyone have this problem. How to speed it up so more useable.
Thanks.

Hello Airdan and welcome.

I reckon the best trim response in the Cherokee can be achieved by using the trim commands in the A2A Cherokee Input Configurator (available from the Windows Start Menu).

Unlike the default FSX trim commands, the trim rate is constant without the slow initial trim rate followed by rapid acceleration. No need to remap any existing FSX commands though - you can just use the input configurator to assign the same trim buttons or keys you normally use.

Cheers,
Nick

Well thanks Nick. Tried the A2A configurator. Not sure how to use it for best way to speed up the elevator trim. Can you b more specific. Not many options on the configurator.
Thanks

Open the A2A config for the Cherokee, in admin mode. Assign two joystick buttons for the up and down trim. Disable any trim assignments in FSX.

If you give us a bit more info on the hardware you're using for pitch trim Airdan, it'll be easier to help.

But assuming you're just using joystick buttons or keyboard assignments just do as bobsk8 says and assign one of each to "Trim Up" and "Trim Down". You should find it more responsive than the default FSX trim functions.

However, there's no need to disable any existing trim assignments in FSX.

Thanks,
Nick

P.S. One other thing I just remembered: the trim up/trim down functions may not be available in the input configurator unless you've downloaded and run the latest Accu-Sim update from here.

Much thanks to Nick and bobsk8. Trim speed solved. Downloaded the latest configurator and followed
both your instructions. The A2A Cherokee 180 now flies very similar to my 1966 Cherokee 180. Also installed the Garmin 650.
into sim panel. Appreciate your expertise.
