P3DV4 and autopilot key designations

Post by pchamney »

I've looked and can't find the answer...
Does anyone know the name of the key binding setting for the autopilot mode change (wings lvl/hdg/trk-lo/trk-hi) in P3DV4 control setup?

Yes - the "AP Mode" key command isn't available within P3D itself; instead you assign it using the A2A Cherokee Input Configurator (available from the Windows Start Menu).

If you use FSUIPC5, the L:Var in question is "L:ApModePushSwitch". It should be set to 1 on press and set to 0 on release.

Thanks Nick!
Now, my only question is how the configurator decides which sim it's going to apply changes to.
When I start it, I see all the FSX inputs I set up. How do I point to the P3D config?

ETA:
I found an axisConfig.cfg file in the documents/A2A/P3D/Cherokee 180/ directory which shows:

Code: Select all

Elevator_Trim False
Rudder_Trim False
AP_Roll False
Carb_Heat_Lever False
Flaps_Lever False
EGT_Ref_Bug False
Cockpit_Ventilation False
Cockpit_Heat False
Defroster False

Disable_Shortcuts
Yoke_AP_Disconnect X
Yoke_AP_Mode C
Yoke_AP_Alt A
Autopilot_Master Z
Trim_Up
Trim_Down
Magneto_Inc.
Magneto_Dec.
Engine_Starter
Cockpit_Ventilation
Carb_Heat H
Headphones
Red_Cockpit_Light VK_LBracket
White_Cockpit_Light VK_RBracket
Battery_ON
Battery_OFF
This seems to have no effect in P3D.

I think any key commands or button presses you assign in the input configurator should just be applied to both sims. At least that's how it works with my set-up.

Thanks for your help. I'll keep playing as I'm switching sims to P3D and am a complete newbie.
I wonder if I have to comment out "Disable_Shortcuts"...

Okay, let us know how you get on. :) I've checked and the A2A Input Config. key commands which I set up in FSX still seem to work fine in P3Dv.4. You'll need to make sure controllers are enabled in the P3D menus though. This setting is ticked by default, but sometimes FSUIPC users choose to untick it.

No, that's not necessary - that line just refers to the function which enables you to assign a key 'disable shortcuts'.

Cheers,
Nick
