Cherokee 180 on P3Dv3 install issue with DirectX

I have Prepar3D ver 3.4.9 Professional license. Just purchased the Cherokee 180 for P3D. Running Windows 10. During install, all goes well until about 91% when DirectX loads. After accepting the license agreement I then receive install fail message: "Internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXerror.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder.
The aircraft appears in the list in P3D but selecting it, there is no sound and nothing happens if I try to start the engine. I can open the door and view menus work and I can use the mouse to move throttle and mixture. Consulting the referred log files does not help me since I am not a programmer but here is what the DirectX.log shows:

Hello,

the direct X component is the Microsoft installer. You can skip this step if your system already has an upto date Direct X9.

Alternatively you can download direct from MS here;

Ok. I did a reinstall last night and skipped the DX part. However, the aircraft is still not working correctly in P3D. The views work and some mouse movements, but pressing Ctrl + E (for example) does not start the engine. A puff of smoke appears but that is all. No sound either. I went to the maintenance hanger and it indicates broken prop, engine needs overhaul, and a host of other problems but none of the buttons to fix these things work. I can click the tire and battery and they change, I can install the wheel fairings and wing fairings, but can't fix the airplane. Really weird behavior.

P3D apparently installs DirectX 11. Do I still need DX9?

Hi - sounds like you just need to run the SimConnect installer as described in the troubleshooting FAQ thread:

P3D - Installed but nothing works and all is broken!?

P3DV2 sometimes wont install the required simconnect files. No worries though as they are provided by Lockheed in the following directory;
\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib

Success. I purchased from PC Aviator and got version 1 of the aircraft. Applied the global aircraft update from A2A. It found the 180 in the P3D v3 folder, updated it, and now all works fine.
