Sound although Master Switch in the OFF position

Post by liftwartbertl »

What might be the problem, if I hear the humming and whirring of the heading indicator although I have the master switch in the off position.

I'm guessing the "extend battery life" option in FSUIPC4 could be one possible culprit for this. It should really be unticked for A2A add-ons. Are you certain it's the gyro sound effect though? If it's breezy and the little storm window is open, you'll hear a bit of wind noise which could be mistaken for "whirring". :)

Cheers,
Nick

Also if its not what Nick as suggested it could even be the scenery as a lot of scenery comes with ambient sounds.

thanks,

I'm sure that it is not ambient sound from my scenery or whirring of winds and it's defenitely coming from the aircraft. But yes indeed, I have "extended battery life" activated in FSUIPC, that might be the root cause. I'll try it and report back.

Yes that setting is in compatible with our aircraft as it causes unrealistic electrical life.

I just deactivated it and now the problem's gone. I needed this FSUIPC function as the batteries of my Carenado aircrafts always died after being 10 minutes in the on position .

Many thanks for the quick an accurate trouble shooting.

Yeah, the A2A guys developed their own custom battery simulation to get round the default FSX behaviour whereby the battery dies unrealistically fast. However, I understand this is not compatible with the FSUIPC fix for the same thing. Anyway, glad to help! :)
