First A2A product, having a mysterious problem.....(FIXED)

Post by BadLandings »

Just bought my first A2A product (taking lessons in a real Cherokee) and I'm having the same issues as Uhrlto in the disappointment thread. I can click on buttons but no control surface moment and it wont start with ctrl E and the maintenance hangar says everything is broken and I can't fix anything. I guess this problem isn't that mysterious but I read Uhrlto post all the way up until he said it started working. I'm not installing any other OS so I guess my problem just won't vanish like his. I have reinstalled multiple times with no change. I'm using P3D version 3.2 and all other planes work. I found the simconnect folder but it just takes me to an HTML website with some code on it. I'm not that tech savy so if it comes down to changing some code I'm afraid I'm just out the money but if a solution has been found I would love to hear it! I also found the FAQ about simconnect and I have the latest version of directX.

Regards

Greg

Have you run the latest updater?

Look up the FAQ re simconnect it sounds as if it needs reinstalling.

Cheers Chris

Hi and welcome to the forums,

Just to calm you down, SimConnect should be one file, that you need to execute (run) in order to install, there is no code changing.
Check this thread for more info:

Hello and welcome to the forums,

your issue is a common one and easy to fix. As you have already noted its a simconnect issue, from the troubleshooting FAQ;

"P3D - Installed but nothing works and all is broken!?

P3DV2 sometimes wont install the required simconnect files. No worries though as they are provided by Lockheed in the following directory;
\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib"

Once run restart your system and then as Speedy mentions run the latest updater to get you all updated. Any further questions just post in the relevant forum and we will do our bets to help and or offer a point in the right direction.

thanks,

Hello Greg,

Just to chime in as well, I've borrowed the image below from from forum member "Poppet" as I don't have my own P3D installation, but this is what you should be doing to install SimConnect...
