Chrokee 180 turn and slip indicator

Post by ballistx »

On the 172 the ball in the turn and slip is over reactive. In the 180 it is continuously centered. Will not move off center no matter what the rudder application. Is there a patch for this?

Do have the latest Accusim updates applied? Ensure Auto-rudder is not checked.

I think it's electric, so also check all circuit breakers.
Kind Regards

The inclinometer part of the turn coordinator isn't electric - it's just a ball in a tube with a little bit of fluid for damping. :) Might be worth checking the breakers nonetheless, just in case something is awry with the gauge coding. There was a past issue with the "miniature aeroplane" part of the gauge but this was resolved with an update ages ago.

Cheers,
Nick

I thought it was all updated. I did a download/update. It updated the 172 but said the 180 was up to date. It updated the "captain of the ship" (I think that was it, at the end anyway). And now the turn and slip works properly. Beyond me. Only been working on these things since Ohio Scientific days (Yes, that is BEFORE Microsoft was in Albuquerque NM).

Important thing is now it is working. Thanks for all the replies.

If you install a new Accusim aircraft, it can overwrite core Accusim files and revert them back to a much earlier versoin. This will result in odd behaviors.

It is essential to run the Accusim update every time a new aircraft is installed.

Based on you description of what happened during the update, I suspect this is what the problem was here.

I downloaded the 180 on 4/22/17 and the 172 on 4/29/17 so that is the most likely suspect.

Thanks
