Hi, I really need help.
I have P3D v4, I downloaded the C172 trainer, and somehow the autopilot button lights on the sim not tuning on, also I have the saitek multi panel also not syncing with the sim. When I press the seitek buttons, the sim does not recognize.
What am i doing wrong?

Re: Autopilot buttons
Hello George,
The KAP 140 autopilot simulation simulated a safety feature of the real unit: it's necessary to press and hold the 'AP' button for at least 0.25 seconds to engage the autopilot. I wonder if this is what's catching you out?
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Autopilot buttons
Hi Nick,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. To answer your question, yes i am pressing the auto pilot for more then .25 seconds, and sometimes it engages and most of the time, the light goes on the saitek unit and no light on the simulator. Also when I press the hdg, or Alt or any of the buttons, nothing happens, the simulator does not even recognizes any of the saitek buttons i am pressing. on the other hand, when I dial the altimeter and the VS on the Saitek panel, the simulator reads it.
Also, when i use the simulator AP unit using the mouse, then the autopilot does it work correctly, (without using the Saitek panel).
To clarify, I have the P3D v4 sim.
Thanks again,
George

Re: Autopilot buttons
If you are using external hardware units you will need to program them to work correctly using Spad.Next.

Re: Autopilot buttons
Hi George,
Thanks for the extra info. If the autopilot works fine using the mouse, then as Oracle says you'll probably need to use some add-on software such as SPAD.neXt to get your Saitek hardware working correctly. I don't have any experience of using this myself, but you could try searching the forum for this term for more information.
Alternative, using the shortcuts available via the A2A C172 Input Configurator may allow you to use much of the Saitek autopilot functionality.
Thanks,
Nick

You know I can't let these pass Oracle - I just find them too amusing!

Re: Autopilot buttons
Spad.Next works great just take advantage of the trial period so you get to play with the program a bit before you buy it...

I had the same issue until I realized I just needed to turn the radio lights up. They apparently default to off and you have to turn the rotary dimmer knob to see the AP button lights.
