HELP ! I've messed up my aircraft.cfg file

Post by Gabe777 »

So, I have been messing around with t P factor and stuff.

Would some kind soul tell me if any of my numbers are different from stock - the fact that some are set to zero suggests they are !

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar=1.000
pitch_stability=2.000
roll_stability=1.000
yaw_stability=1.000
parasite_drag_scalar=1.000
induced_drag_scalar=1.0
elevator_effectiveness=2
aileron_effectiveness=1.5
rudder_effectiveness=1.3
elevator_trim_effectiveness=0
aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.000
rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.00
p_factor_on_yaw = 0 //0.5 //1.755
torque_on_roll = 0 //2.856
gyro_precession_on_yaw = 0 //1.0
gyro_precession_on_pitch = 0 //1.0

Thanks for any help !

A2A aircraft are externally modeled and most of the baseline cfi parameters will not behave in predictable ways. You can not modify these parameters with predictable results without knowledge of the A2A engine.

On top of that these are the most accurate simulations you can purchase for home use, so what reason would there be to modify and degrade the high fidelity behavior?

Gabe777,

The torque and p-factor physics in FSX/P3D have been replaced with externally coded physics in Accu-Sim; that's why these readings in the aircraft.cfg file show 0. You can't modify these aspects of the flight model yourself.

The numbers you posted above are all correct.

Thanks,
Nick

This may sound a bit harsh but why people keep messing with those files and then cry for help, at least you've told us that this has been modified, imagine when one has to troubleshoot problems without this knowledge (that happens, sometimes they even blame the addon ) this is not a default plane, those parameters are such for a reason, at least make backups before messing with those numbers. If this doesn't help, reinstall/repair.

If you really have to mod something, then maybe ask on the forum about specific mods you wish to employ before you do them, you may save yourself alot of headaches this way and get what you wish for alot faster, rather than shooting in the dark.

I will go and stand in a corner right now.

I feel ashamed.

Please forgive me.

Thanks Nick.

Glad someone's not looking for a whipping boy on such a lovely Sunday.

Clearly I hadn't try to modify the sacred A2A 172 ...... :twisted:

It was actually the Just Flight 152 that I had amended as the P factor was greatly exaggerated.... as were rumours of me still standing in the corner the following Sunday :D

Standing in the corner? No no no. You will hand fly 3 VOR approaches to minimums with complete missed approach procedures.

Ohh, a provocator huh ? 8) ok ok....buuuut then maybe a justflight forum would be better ? Maybe ? :P U WILL BE PUT IN THE CHAIR !!! WITH NOTHING BUT BLACK COFFEE AND HARD CRACKERS AT ELEVEN!!! And yes, it will be in the corner. :twisted:

Wait....if it was justflight 152 that you modified..then how did Mr. Nick recognized the file's parameters as those for the A2A plane to crosscheck them if they were right :?: 8) you didn't tell him that in the post :) i think someone actually modified the sacred 172....sacrelige :P

This may warrant a warning shot to the knee :mrgreen:
