C 172 Not Starting As Cntrl E switches off Fuel Pump Instead

Post by KSimmer »

Ref C172 not starting I have applied update (A2AUpdate_9_16_18.zip) and it made no difference to the startup fault.

This airplane cannot be started with the default Cntl+E. It is far too complex for that. Use Shft+3 to bring up the A2A menu and press "auto start" and it will react in the same way. Make sure your hardware controls are set up for the engine running at idle or they may cause the start to fail.

Actually Ctrl+E will work just fine if the aircraft has been installed correctly, is fueled up and has no mechanical issues.

This thread is a continuation of a previous thread:

It looks like he's got control-E set up to switch the fuel pump off rather than to start the engine. Probably something left over from another flight sim, and probably not in the FSX control options but some outside control file.

Test this by loading any default aircraft and trying to use control-E to start it. If a default plane starts with control-E then the A2A plane should start as well. I have used this myself, but not recently. I prefer going through the manual start-up sequence.

flapman suggested using the Shift-3 dialog's "auto start" button and this should work.
