C172 and Mindstar G1000 autopilot

Post by delta9857 »

Hi,

I've got the Mindstar G1000 set up for the C172 as a popup window, and everything seems to be working fine - except I can't for the life of me manage to get the autopilot to work correctly! The G1000 is using the built-in GFC700, whereas the 172 has a KAP140.

What would be the best way to set up the two to work together? I'm using Noble Flight Sim's hardware G1000 if that helps.

I've tried using the Input Configuration program, but can't seem to get the ALT select knob to work. And changing between VS and ALT modes isn't right either.

Is there any way I can tweak some .cfg files to strip the KAP140 and replace it with just the GFC700?

Hope this isn't too rambling! Cheers!

The GFC700 is a very different autopilot from the KAP140, not only in the interface, but also in the functionality.

I doubt there are cfg entries that can be changed as Accusim is an external module from the FSX/P3D libraries.

You will likely have to find a way to program the LVARS using button presses on the G1000 panel to mimic the buttons of the KAP140. I'm not quite sure how you would go about setting the KAP140's baro knob.

It is fairly common to run into KAP140 equipped C172SP's and C182T's.
