C172 P3D v4 spins uncontrollably?

Post by CaptMac »

I recently purchased the C172 trainer hoping to use it with Pilot Edge, but to date I've had nothing but issues.

At present, and it appears to coincide with downloading the latest Accu-Sim file, when releasing the brakes and applying a small amount of throttle the aircraft moves very slowly then suddenly goes into a wild spin, revolving 360 degrees every two seconds or so.

I'm using P3D v4, Pollypot GoFlight Interface, FSUIPC (P3D v4 version), SPAD NeXt and Chaseplane.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers

Hello Graham,

It sounds like you haven't updated your Prepar3D installation to v4.1 status as mentioned in the release notes for the Accu-Sim update. The latest update was issued specifically to address a physics issue for P3Dv4.1 users. However, applying it to v4.0 will produce the effect you're seeing.

More info on P3Dv4.1 here: https://www.prepar3d.com/news/2017/10/114527/.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello,

yes as Nick mentions sounds like you are trying to run 4.1 software on a 4.0 platform. Once you update P3D to the latest you will be good to go. What are you other issues you have mentioned you have experienced, have you sought any help as if they are like this one will be simple easy ones to correct and get your system correctly configured for the advanced simulation.

thanks,
Lewis

Hi. I have the same situation but my P3D is 4.1.
During 2 months after installation, C172 was OK but lately I cannot use C172.

During take-off, when I increase throttle, the tail is going higher and the plane starts uncontrolled spinning.
Several times I was able to take-off but shortly in time, in the air, the plane started uncontrolled spinning.
Other planes works OK.
I have made re-installation but no diffrence.
I have prepared report based ok Dr A2A but such attachment is not allowed with my post.

Hello and welcome to the forums,

have you tried the known fixes for this issue as described in this very thread?

Hi,
meantime, I have discovered source of the "spin" problem.
All was OK with C172 until I equiped C172 with FAIRINGS for the wheels (mainly nose fairing).
C172 without fairings was and is OK.

Hi vieslavtall - actually, I think this one could be unrelated to the P3Dv4.1 fix but instead could be caused by spoiler deployment via FSUIPC5. Do you have a copy of FSUIPC installed?

Thanks,
Nick

Unlikely the fairings are the direct cause, although their aerodynamic effect may be tied into the spoiler axis function. I'd still suspect FSUIPC as the culprit.

Do you have spoilers mapped? This is known to cause trouble if the spoilers are extended. The sim engine well react to it even if they don't actually exist on the simulated aircraft.

Hi
I do not make any assignments (mapping) or changes of any software. I use only initial software configuration of C172, P3Dv4.1, FSUIPC, ... I only configured C172 to use of GNT750+650.

You must have mapped controls unless you are issuing the keyboard and mouse. The default mappings are typically not very good. I can't speak for FSUIPC as I do not use it, I do not know if it maps the spoiler by default.

You are also not running a "stock" configuration with all these add-ons. Have you checked if the spoilers are mapped in FSUIPC or are you assuming they are not? Please verify for our help to be of any value.

My assigments in P3D for spoilers are unchanged (by default) ie. spoilers On, Off = null, arm = shift+/ ext/retr=/
I do not use these at all :)
regarding FSUIPC: Iuse unregistered version because of needs of one of add-on and I do not change anything
