C172 P3D V4 errors in Sound.cfg

Post by aeronauta »

P3D V4 is reporting errors in the Sound.cfg file in A2A_C172\Sound\sound.cfg

The error is that several times in this file a filename = null is invoked , of course there is not such a file in A2A_C172\Sound or in H:\Prepar3d V4\Sound
for example

[WIND_SOUND]
filename = null
viewpoint = 1
rparams = 16.0000,0.660000,120.0000,0.910000
vparams = 0.000000,0.000000,15.5000,1.200000,40.3000,6.800000,65.9000,12.400000,80.8000,17.600000,95.7000,20.200000,105.2000,24.800000,120.0000,28.000000
link = wind_sound.1.01
ConePitch = 0.000000
ConeHeading = 0.000000
InsideConeAngle = 90
OutsideConeAngle = 360
OutsideConeVolume = 9400
full_scale_distance = 1

[GEAR_DOWN]
filename = null

[GEAR_UP]
filename = null

This is in the A2A_C172 V4 install..

There are sound files in P3D V4 like Geardown.wav , gearup.wav, wind3.wav etc...

Hello Jorge,

Content error reporting in P3D should be disabled on the applications settings screen. It's primarily a developer tool and in this case the Accu-Sim sound effects in question are encoded in a separate "Sounds.pk" file, not as individual .wav files as is traditional with FSX/P3D aircraft.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello,

Yes Nick is correct the P3D error reporting tool is a dev tool and doesn't indicate just errors.

thanks,
Lewis

What I don't understand is why you would switch this on ? - in P3dv3 it was mistakenly left on by default but in none of the installs of v4 have I seen that checkbox marked.

It's not as if the unnecessariness of it wasn't highlighted when v3 was first released. So why did you set it on in the first place?

Was there some problem that you were looking to address Jorge ?

Why wouldn't he? It's a tool and it's there. If he felt like checking that his sim was working well, with no hidden issues, that would seem a good thing to do.

I am a developer for OZx and use it all the time to check for problems. particularly now that other developers are adding scenery and objects not following the LM guidelines . For this I applaud A2A, its the first one to do it , hopefully all will follow.

Thank you .

Jorge

PS by the way A2A for P3D V3 has a null.wav file in A2A_C182 sound that stopped this from hapenning.Most of the A2A AC have it , I have just copied one to the A2A..

PSPS From the P3D V4 SDK

"As a Prepar3D Solution Developer, it is essential to turn Content Error Reporting on while developing add-on content as every error or invalid implementation in content can slow down the overall program."

There you have it Ron. HE has a reason. Most of us don't.

Thanks, Jorge.
