I installed the c172 trainer into Prepar3d V4. I noticed the autopilot is not working. it won't engage. Is this a know issue?

You need to press and hold the 'AP' button for 0.25 at least seconds to engage it (i.e. use a slightly prolonged mouse click on the button in the virtual cokcpit). This is a safety feature of the real KAP 140 which A2A have reproduced.
If you're already doing so, you could also check the circuit breakers in the cockpit.
