Rest of system specs would be useful. Did you previously have FSX installed? Is this the P3D version of the C172 you are seeking to update or are you trying to get the FSX version to work?

Hello Jadames11,

welcome to the forums. Can you give us some further information about your setup, and the circumstances. For example on the reinstall was it a full clean install of did you just run the uninstaller and then reinstall without deleting left over files etc. As Mallcott has mentioned which A2A product are you working with?

thanks,
Lewis

No I didn't have fsx installed, I only have P3Dinstalled. it is the c172 p3d version I want to update. It is a full clean install windows reinstall and everything else. I just installed the c172 everything went well with the aircraft installation and when I started the update install it says that fsx was not found, to point the installer to the correct folder (or something along these lines)

Hello,

how did you install P3D, it looks like the updater cannot find the correct reg key in your system so isn't presenting you the P3D option.

thanks,

Reg Key can be easily renistalled with a Client uninstall/reinstall, unless you've got something peculiar going on in your rig...

Why did you do that? You only need to uninstall and reinstall the P3D Client to reinstate the registry entry.

Given what you say, however, it is apparent that you DO have a problem beyond the C172 update. As P3D won't run without being accredited by the reg entry, if the rest of the sim is running then the issue is that the updater cannot find it because it isn't where it expects to find it, or it doesn't have the correct permissions.

REBOOT the computer from a cold start. MAKE SURE P3D has the correct permissions - right click on Prepar3D. exe and Run As Administrator. Does it load ?

ok Got the updater to do a P3D C172 Update cool. Now when I try to open the aircraft configurator I get an error about .net framework. Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. if you would like to continue, the application will ignorethis error and attempt to continue.
Could not load file or assembly Microsoft flight simulator.SimConnect. version 10.0.61259.0 culture neutral (and some more code) The system cannot find the file specified.

Which would have been a recommendation if he had actually answered the system specs question.

Hello Lewis

Problems with my Cessna 182 and Comanche 250.
I have updates all. The latest A2A patch, Simconnect (three versions RTM, FSX1 and FSX2) and l checked all Windows updates. All there. But I still have the Microsoft .NET Framework error.

Are you able to help me too. please?

Thanks and regards,
Ed
