Just took my first lesson in a 1969 172 and I'm going to buy a sim to help in my journey. Is the A2A 172 Trainer a stand alone product or do I need to purchase FSX as well? which edition of FSX? Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.

Newbie config question
Re: Newbie config question
It is NOT a standalone product. It is an addon for either FSX or P3D (Prepar3D)drkeenan wrote:Just took my first lesson in a 1969 172 and I'm going to buy a sim to help in my journey. For FSX the current version that is available is the Steam Edition. All other versions were removed from sale some time ago. If you find one of them then come back here and ask further as there are a number of `if` & `but` statements that impact on the sim version choice and what you need to do to run the A2A product optimally...
You will need a yoke or joystick
You may want a throttle product
You may want rudder pedals
You will need a computer capable of running FSX which is NOT necessarily the same thing as a recent computer. Provide system specs.

Re: Newbie config question
Hello,
you would need a graphics card on your system to run the simulation. Though things have got a little easier flight simulation and simulation in generally still tends to mean your looking at the cutting edge or a few notches back for use. A standard off the shelf office system will not be enough for simming or gaming i'm afraid.
thanks,
Lewis
