Hey guys!
I just bought the C172 Trainer and it's an amazing plane.. but only in the air! And I can't fly in the air, because my engine doesn't want to start. I check every single point on the checklist, the hangar looks fine and I also pay attention to normal things, e.g. fuel cut-off in, priming the engine and cranck the throttle. But it doesn't matter the C172, "she" won't start. Please help me guys, I don't want to use the auto-start function of this beautiful airplane (but you remember: only in the air)!

Re: C172 engine won't starting
Hello,
Which platform is this for?
Have you run the Accu-sim updater?
Have you carried out a preflight and pre-pre flight checking load and required payload are correct (fuel, oil etc) and also that all is good in the maint hanger.
Also if you use the auto start does it start ok?
Thanks,
Lewis

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.
Have you run the Accu-sim updater?
No, I doesn't. I just bought it yesterday and installed it, without any updates. I think I should do this now.

Yeah, I can say it hundred times: In my hanger is everything fine, I'm doing the checklists and stuff like this similarly to the videos but my engine won't start. I can make a short video, if you want to see it.
Also if you use the auto start does it start ok?
Yes, if I use the auto-start everything's fine. But really, I don't want to buy a plane for 50$ to start the engine automatically with the stock tool :3

Re: C172 engine won't starting
If you wouldn't mind making a brief video at the point when you finish preflight checks and are about to start the engine it would be very helpful. The are a number of reports of problems like this and it would be helpful to observe your steps.

Re: C172 engine won't starting
Hello,
is this FSX or P3D?
If the auto start works correctly then there is an issue with your starting procedure. Please can you let us know what you are doing ot start it, and remember if its a warm engine you may not need to prime, as priming in such conditions will result in a flooded engine.
The latest update should always be applied, the updater is here;

Re: C172 engine won't starting
I did find that when I first bought the 172 and tried to start with the procedures in the manual, it flooded every time (even before I applied the update). The manual says to prime for 3 seconds, but that was way too much for me. I would start it by applying ~21% throttle; turn fuel pump on, increase mixture to full rich for approx 1 second after you hear it prime; pull mixture lever out; turn off fuel pump; turn over engine and within 5 seconds it should start and then push mixture lever in (if not, maybe prime a tad more).
Cheers.
Cheers.

Did you turn the fuel on? Yeah, I know, but many are the times I've forgotten and retreated to the hangar as a first recourse
EDIT: Just reread your post. 'fuel cut-off in'
You ain't seen me, right?

Re: C172 engine won't starting
Okay guys, thank you for every single reply! I finally found the solution:
It's just overpriming, as somebody already said. I primed the engine for about 5 seconds, even with an OAT of 12° C, which was too long. With priming for just 2 seconds, everything's fine and the baby is running. Thank you!!

Ha, good to hear it was something simple, happy flying.
Re: C172 engine won't starting
Hi, I'm having similar problem but for me I don't think is me over priming because when I go into the maintenance window there is yellow text saying low voltage, and when I click it it makes a sparking sound then go's away. But is still doesn't start. Also the volt light comes on when I turn on the battery.

Re: C172 engine won't starting
I also had difficulty starting the engine from " cold and dark startup" . I found the following solution worked:
1) check fuel valve open and fuel tank selector set to both
2) mixture closed
3) throttle open a crack ( in line with mixture knob or max 1/4)
4) battery on
5) fuel pump on and move mixture to full open and then back to close, fuel pump off ( this procedure should not take more than 2 seconds)
6) turn key to start engine. As soon as it takes move mixture to full and throttle set to 1200 rpm
7) once oil pressure in the green and engine warm , throttle set to 1000 rpm and mixture to 50 %
