without engine

Post by doebro2010 »

I have a question:
If I turn off the engines while flying and put everything out, I noticed the plane can fly about 5 or 6 miles.
When landed I could also use the brakes.
question is is this also possible in reality?

The brakes in the 172 are not power brakes. The engine provides no assistance.

Even in a car with power brakes, they would work but with much less effectiveness.

With the engine out, you can generally expect to descend at 800 feet per minute. How much distance you cover depends on the winds and your course.

Airplanes generally land at very power settings and do not fall out off the sky when their engines go to idle power.
