Saitek Cessna trim wheel

Post by Jimimac »

I have been using the trim wheel set up with fsx but was wondering if it would be better if it was set up thru the input configurator I enabled this in the configurator and a value of 50% was set is that all that is needed for the trim wheel to work, also should the fsx settings for the trim wheel be deleated.

Thanks, jim

I fly some aircraft other than A2A so I want to use the FSX setting for them. I use the A2A config for A2A aircraft; it doesn't conflict.

The Saitek trim wheel is a great plug and play device, fsx setup should see you just fine. We use that setup when exhibiting.

Hi,
I have just started using the Saitek trim wheel but I'm having trouble getting the correct trim. If I set it for take off it will just point at the sky after takeoff. I then have to try to get the nose down. If I set it for nose down around 25 it will takeoff but I still have to fight the airplane to get the nose down. I could use some advice if you can help.

When you first bring up your aircraft, rotate the trim wheel about a 15 degree turn either way. You will hear the driver install with a short tone. After this you can set the trim wheel on your takeoff index.
This is just the way Saitek programmed the wheel to function as far as I have been able to determine.

also please note the trim setting is depending on your weight and balance.

Thanks guys for all your advice, I think I have finally got the hang of taking off. Now I just have to master the landing part.

Just make sure that the trim is used as an aid and not as an alternative/replacement for the yoke flying and you should be good. In the past some sim flyers get so use to trim they start to use it as a yoke alternative which will always result in some bad habits and get you into trouble in the virtual skies quite easily.

cheers,
